Glyceryl tristearate
Glyceryl tristearate is one of stearic acid, and glyceryl tristearate is a nonionic surfactant. It has both hydrophilic and lipophilic genes, and has various functions such as wetting, emulsifying and foaming. Glyceryl tristearate is emulsifier and additive for food; used as emulsifier in cosmetics and pharmaceutical creams to make creams fine and smooth; used as emulsifier for industrial silk oil agent and lubricant for textiles; used as droplet runner and anti-fogging agent in plastic films; used as lubricant and anti-static agent in plastic processing, and as defoamer, dispersant, thickener and wetting agent in other aspects. It is mainly used as non-toxic stabilizer of PVC, lubricant of cosmetics, styrene resin, release agent of rubber and wood products, flattening agent of paints and softening agent and isolating agent of rubber materials in rubber industry, which is widely used.
Applications
Glyceryl tristearate is an ester derivative, which can be used as food emulsifier, brightener, greasing agent, lubricant, defoamer, and also in various cosmetics.
Toxicity
It is safe within the limits mentioned above (FDA, 2000).
Use limit
As a crystallization catalyst for cocoa butter 1%; as a molding aid 0.5% to 3%; as a winterizing treatment agent for fats and oils 0.5% (FDA §172.811, 2000). Can be used as gum gum-based substance (GBChemicalbook2760-96).
